365 Days of Drabbles: Day Ninety-Three

For [livejournal.com profile] drhoz: "Why asteroids hate Russia."

* * *

"Ivan, the Tunguska Event was a comet. And given that the time between that and the one back in March was about a hundred years, you can't exactly say they hate us."

Ivan dropped a thick folder on the desk. "There have been a lot more between those two, Gregor Steponovich. Read this."

Gregor opened the folder, flipping through the old Soviet Strategic Rocket Forces memo, his eyes growing wide. "The old government had been intercepting them? Why?"

"I've been plotting the landing pattern. There is something buried in the Aral Sea that someone doesn't want coming to the surface."

And we share a planet with the targets?

Now that's an incentive to develop interplanetary/interstellar travel!
