Dead VCR

My VCR decided to die last night, just in time to thwart my attempt to tape the Discovery Channel special on SpaceShipOne. Admittedly it was ten years old, which is quite elderly for VCR's (the silly thing outlasted my DIVX player), but it was still annoying. Now I must purchase a new one, which while it will be cheap, might be a tad hard to find these days.

And no, I'm not getting TIVO. It's terribly tempting, but I can't afford it right now.

The BBC just announced that "Horror at Fang Rock" will be the next Tom Baker DVD release.

Still no word on "Pyramids of Mars."

Royce wants his Robot Egyptian Mummy fix. Wah.

WTF?

From the Sci-Fi Channel newswire:

"Circle of Confusion and Five Windows Productions are developing a live-action remake of the French animated SF movie Fantastic Planet, Variety reported."

WTF? For anyone who hasn't seen Fantastic Planet, that's rather like saying someone is going to make a live-action version of "Yellow Submarine". They're both so utterly bizarre that doing them live would involve so many special effects that you may as well animate them anyway (and include a doobie for the full experience.)

Actually they did sorta do a live-action Yellow Submarine. Fortuantely years of therapy have managed wipe "Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band" (starring the Bee-Gees!) almost completely from my mind.
