Saturday: Hit Weight Watchers for my weigh-in. Down by 3.6 pounds. Go me! Of course I immediately blew it by eating fast food twice that day...

Sunday: Very very busy. Tracy's mom showed up (and brought back my GURPS 4th ed. set!) to watch Thomas as Tracy and I went to the fertility center for the egg retrival. Good 13 good eggs, which are incubating even as we speak. Wendsday Tracy goes back in for the implantation and we keep our fingers crossed. Spent the afternoon over at Grandma Day's, as she was feeling very blue and needed some Thomas time. She noted he's listening a lot more, and making eye contact, which is true. He also was good about identifying things and stringing together three word sentences. On the down side he was running a mild fever and quite cranky. I think he's got the croup. :)

But he was well enough to walk around the nieghborhood a bit and get scads of halloween candy. Most everybody who saw complemented him on how cute he looked in his monkey costume. It was a good year for handing out candy too. No teenagers comin' a begging without any costumes. OTOH We've got tons of leftover cnady which I'm going to have to foist off onto someone before I blow my diet for good...

If you can believe this Slate article, Jim Davis never really sold out to the siren call of mass marketing. Making a bag of cash on merchandising with an inoffenisive, unchanging product was his plan all along.

Wrote up six more strips (about three week's worth), giving me a total of thirteen, or six and a half weeks of strips all in all. I'm going to stop writing, at least for a while, until I can get some input form Peta about where the story is going.

I guess I'm too serious a writer, but coming up with funny ha-ha gags is not as easy for me as coming up with funny-situational irony humor. Every strip doesn't end on laugh, but there's at least some attempt at humor in all of them. Characterwise, Isolde is turning out to be far more cautious than I'd originally envisioned. I guess my prejudice against characters doing stupid things just to provide humor is actually working against me here. She hasn't been doing anywhere near as much yelling or b*tching as I'd originally anticipated.

Will send this latest batch off to Peta and wait to see what she thinks. I haven't heard anything from her aside from the initial exchange of notes we did, but then she's probably up to her eyeballs doing stuff on Terinu right now. Or knowing her, eagerly drawing up concepts sketches for DandD liek she said she wouldn't do until January... :)
