I don't actually have scenes or full stories attached to these yet, but I want to use them someday.

"Who did you hurt, that made you so afraid of your own strength?"

"You think she (Note: a waitress at a diner) is beneath you?"

"Of course she's beneath me. I could make a phone call less than thirty seconds long and destroy her life utterly. Make her jobless, homeless, friendless, dropping her into a spiral of debt and loss that she could never possibly pull herself out of. But would be the point? A moment's petty revenge for a badly served coffee?"

"Some people wouldn't hesitate. Your colleagues for instance."

"My colleagues have no sense of perspective, imagining themselves gods because they're able to step on ants. I aim for bigger prey."

"And the waitress?"

He smiled. "Her name is Margie Haskill. She's twenty-four, unmarried, has four siblings, one mother, an unknown father, and is working on a nursing and psychology degree to treat needy children. She's likely surly because she spent all night studying for a test she had to take this morning."

"You know this?"

"This isn't my first time here. I make a study of people you see. Miss Haskill is an ant, but an industrious one. She's attempting to make the world better, which is more than can be said for 99% of humanity. I think she will be pleased to find when she graduates that an unexpected scholarship has paid off her student loans."

"You'd do this for her?"

"It would take a thirty second phone call." He smiled again. "Some people crush ants. Others... build ant farms."
