I love that second bit and would be very interested in buying a story about that person. He strikes me as somewhat similar to a very old character of mine from yea long ago -- basically, dragon predating the Christian Epoch, tended to travel the world, fairly recently decided to reinvent himself as a CEO and start improving life in various subtle ways because being rich doesn't do anything for him anymore and ruling directly doesn't sound very interesting at all...
