The solution to the O'Neill glazier's nightmare is just to run a whole fuckton of daylight-spectrum LEDs down the internal axis of the (windowless) cylinder, powered by those big-ass solar power stations the residents live there to maintain.
This wasn't a viable option in G. K. O'Neill's era (high-efficiency daylight spectrum LEDs didn't exist) but this is now.
But then, O'Neill had some other weird-ass agendas that ... well, let's just say that colonizing space because (Pope said something stupid about contraceptives) is kind of an expensive solution, right?
