But for some reason it doesn't get much play in New Orleans

This year is the 25th anniversary of the release of Walking on Sunshine by Katrina and the Waves.

God I hate getting old.

Woah...

Iwas playing the google pacman game yesterday and realised I have friends younger than that game. Used to play it at school when I would swap my double screen nintendo donkey kong game for it at lunch time...

I have friends that weren't alive when the Challenger exploded. Oi.

I realized a few years back that the local SF/F fan organization was getting members who were born while I was in high school, which was well after Challenger.

Our graduation date is old enough to go to war.

Eep. Of course if I never hear that song again it will be too soon.

Walking on Sunshine

I have a very specific memory for that song...Renee is one of the only people who knows the smirk behind it. I recommend a cash bribe. That song does NOT make me feel old.

Walk of Life by Dire Straits does. I cannot hear that song without thinking of Jeanne in the apartment flinging you around to that tune over and over again. You got some serious air time during that "dance". You also achieved a serious shade of green by the fourth or fifth playing. It is a bitter sweet memory and it makes me nostalgic (which, I believe, is just another word for old).

It's not that a particular song is old that gets me. It's hearing it in the supermarket.
