"So when I am supposed to be Processed?" she asked, snuggling deeper into her futon chair with her snack tray, sighing as Khan rubbed her bare feet.

"Eventually, when the number of humans remaining goes below the point of effective meme influence," he told her.

"Ah… ack. She pulled a chicken wing from her mouth, staring at it. "Why is this thing's bones made out of plastic?"

"Because the meat is flavored tofu on a plastic frame."

"Wait, you mean all the meat I've eaten…?"

Khan/Groupmind stared her down. "Mass slaughter of animals for food production is no longer required."

I'm sorry, I can't believe even a superhuman groupmind would be able to devise a way to make tofu taste like anything edible. :)

It's Future Space Tranhumanist Tofu. Far better than ordinary 21st century tofu. Especially with the He3 flavoring. ;p

You'd be surprised. Tofu is a flavor sponge.

It's a flavor sponge, in that it has the texture -- at best -- of a sponge, and grabs faint, puny echoes of the real flavor and none of the texture of the food it's imitating. I've had tofu -- of several different types -- and none of it fooled me into thinking it was actual food.
