There's a reason I don't write Known Space fanfic

Because they would inevitably end with Tez becoming a Pak Protector, and I don't even want to think about what he'd do in that state.

You're saying he'd become a Pakman?

Technically not Pak.

Is Tez, in fact, descended from the protohumans on Earth 25000 centuries ago? He has a Sidhe look to him.

(If we presuppose the Fair Folk to be a manifestation of human imagination, tree-of-life will work... and Tez won't give a crap about anything but the welfare of his kids or his species. He will, however, be utterly sane. This is NOT to say "reasonable".)

(EDIT: It also opens up a can of worms so big I can't see the opposite rim.)

Elves in his world are basically a subset of human evolution, splitting from humans from a common ancestor (not that any elf would admit it), so the Tree of Life would likely work.

Given that he's already tried to blow up the world at least twice, making him a Protector would... not be helpful of his world's long term survival.

Fortunately he has no affinity for magic use, otherwise "can of worms" would be the mildest way to describe the situation.

Oh, not to worry. A protector won't blow up a planet it has relatives on.

That isn't very reassuring [/c3p0]

It does represent a step up.

At least until he has a few hours to spare to invent, for example, a virus that will infect all the humanoids on the planet, and kill anybody that isn't carrying his genes.

Oh, everybody thinks of that in the first few minutes, but then they realize that leaves their own descendants stuck with inbreeding.

As Howie Mandel said to Fred Savage: "Ya got good instincts. It's a little crude."
