jeriendhal: (Alinadar)

Ali spent a luxurious half-hour after she woke up the next morning just laying bed, enjoying the sensation of resting her cheek on Salli's shoulder, listening to the older vixen's soft breathing as they lay curled together. Outside the bedroom window she could hear the whistles of glide lizards as they greeted the dawn. Inside, there was just... Salli. Lady Salli. Her Salli.

She glanced briefly at the chronocom by the bedside, then began gently nuzzling Salli awake before the alarm went off, rubbing her nose along the fur covered curve of her breast, eliciting a soft moan as Salli's eyes fluttered open. The older vixen shifted gathering Ali up into her arms as they shared a kiss.

“Good morning, Milady,” Ali purred, resting her cheek on Salli's shoulder.

“I think we're a bit past 'Milady,'” Salli noted with a smile. Her paw drifted downward, stroking Ali's spine, fingers curling around the base of the younger vixen's tail and stroking her thick black and white fur. Ali purred, stretching briefly before curling up against Salli once more. “Was last night what you wanted, Ali?” she asked.

“Yes,” she answered readily. “Though I was a bit surprised. I thought you had sworn off lovemaking after... er, after....” She bit down on the rest as the light in Salli's good eye darkened, only drawing attention to the other, artificial one. Damn Kev Highglider and the shadow he cast over Milady.

Salli drew in a deep, determined breath, seeming to banish the dark thoughts from her mind. “Well, when I saw you hurting last night, it hurt me as well. And I was tired of hurting. I want you to be happy, Ali.”

“I am,” Ali reassured her. “But.. I just... want to be sure. I thought you were straight.”

I thought I was straight. Apparently I'm more flexible than I gave myself credit for. I think it's from all those exercises you've had me doing.” She smiled, and Ali let out a brief laugh at the joke, smiling, and then smiled wider at the sheer wonder of Salli cracking a joke at all.

Salli's face took on a more serious cast. “I'll admit I'm not looking forward to one thing, though.”

“Your family?” Ali asked.

“No, no. I doubt they're going to be upset. They aren't Deep Conservatives after all. Rather the reverse.” Salli rolled her eye. “It's just the inevitable smirk that Melanie is going to be wearing when she finds out about this.”

“Well, she did hire me to be your bodyguard to throw us together. Can't blame her for it working, even if it was a bit delayed.”

“I know, I know.” Salli waved away her concern. “I'll survive it. I'm sure my brother Rolas will glare at her until she subsides.”

“Right, milady.” On the bedside table, Ali's com began buzzing. She snatched up, slipping it into her ear and stating briskly, “Alinadar here.” She listened for a minute, then said, “Pass along the data packet to both my and Lady Salli's personal drives. Thank you for the quick work.”

“Who was that?” Salli asked.

“The Survey office,” Ali told her. “Their drone found the missing truck, and what looks like an encampment. I think we've located the remaining pirates, milady.”

Salli nodded. “Right, I'll set up coordination meeting with you, Sgt. Longwalk, the captain of the Navy destroyer up in orbit, and Commander Blacksailor.”

Ali frowned. “Why him?”

“He's a Patrol officer, and these are pirates. It's his job to help.” Salli huffed out an annoyed breath. “And it's about time we got some use out of him.”

“Yes, milady,” Ali could only agree.
