Horribly tempting to figure out what a universe with the Groupmind having to deal with five alien intelligences would be like. It would rather be dependent on who developed star drives first I suspect. If Humanity was late to the party (probable, given the Groupmind discouraging any exploration of transportation options that would let humans get out of Its grasp), then the Foxen, Gliten, Wazagans and the other two (whomever they turn out to be) would likely be inclined to interdict the Solar System rather than risk the Groupmind expanding Its influence. Attempting to invade the Ring to free the humans would likely be a non-starter. For one thing, there's no way the other races could muster forces for a ground assault on several billion robots, no matter if most of them are non-combat units.

If the Groupmind developed star drives first... Things would get interesting.
