“You’ll like the Gardens,” she reassured the little Blessed Soul.
“But I like the Cottage better! It’s fun, and all my friends are there!”
“It’s all right. All your friends are coming with you, and there’ll be new ones to play with too.”
“But I wanna stay here!”
“You can’t.”
“But Christ’pher said I could stay forever and ever!”
“You can’t.”
“Why?!”
“You just can’t.”
“But Christ’pher said…”
“Christopher is gone.”
“But Christ’pher said he’d come back.”
“He can’t come back, dearheart. I’m sorry, but he just can’t.”
“Why?”
“He just… because he… He’s… he’s with God now.”
“I thought we were with God already.”
“He’s… much closer… now.”
“Miss Angel, why are you crying?”
