“He wants the Word of what?” Novalis asked carefully, hoping she’d misheard.
Christopher sighed, and said again, “Slasher Movies.”
“You’re certain he’s working for Children and not Creation, and just made some sort of horrible error?”
The Archangel of Children smiled. “He’s mine, Mother, Redeemed by mine own hands.”
Novalis rubbed her eyes. “He’s an Elohite you said, yes, once of the Media? Doesn’t this seem like ah… dangerous regression?”
“Look, I’ll admit it startled me too, but Hecubah isn’t in danger of regressing. If anything he’s starting to annoy his counselors just because he double-checks every major decision he makes to be certain he isn’t backsliding. And the logic he offered does make sense, especially if you’re in the mood to tweak Nybbas,” Christopher insisted.
“Which is?”
“Discouraging teen pregnancy,” he answered.
Novalis --blinked--. “How?”
Christopher smiled. “What’s the one hard and fast rule in a slasher film?”
“The killer is never really dead?”
“Close. What’s the other one?”
“You have sex, you die?”
“Exactly!” he exclaimed.
Novalis nodded reluctantly. “I can see where you wanted some backup before you brought this to the Council…”
