bleach + ammonia (from the cat urine)= chloramine gas, one heck of a poisonous gas.

Nope. I had my mother wanting to handle a bottle of muriatic acid without proper equipment when she wanted to do some spa maintenance, but I raised holy hell and wouldn't let her do it until she had proper gloves and goggles.

Hey, I did that once. We had an ancient dog who sometimes had a continence problem. After she passed on I decided to go hogwild and REALLY get that carpet CLEAN. So, yeah, bleach solution...resulting in evacuating the house and placing fans to blow out all the poison gas.

What with one thing and a few dozen others, it's a miracle I'm still alive.
