This is why no one sane trusts the stock market

Got my 401k quarterly report from my old job, the one I haven't paid into for 6 years. After freefalling with the rest of the economy to $15k it's worked its way back up to a bit over $20k.

So the report this month tells me the portfolio's overall value has increased by over $800 this quarter from profits...

..while somehow losing over 3000 dollars.
