I woke up to the rhythmic thump of someone kicking me in the back of the head with a powered armor boot. No, wait, that was just a post-stunner migraine, complete with the usual nausea. I rolled over without opening my eyes, covering my head with what felt like a silk pillow. Then I let out a yelp as someone pressed a hypo to my neck, and tossed the pillow in their direction.

"This is not promising," Tony noted, shading his eyes against sun, or at least what was left of it. The Earth's sky was still blue, but the sun has faded from bright yellow to a deepening red, as their time machine recovered from its several billion year flight.

No buildings, his MindSage noted, or other signs of habitation. It may have been abandoned.

"I'm still betting on Morlocks. I doubt any Eloi could have survived here."

"So if nothing recognizably human still lives, who do we talk to?"
