Oh for fuck's sake...

Got home, opened mail, found envelope from Home Depot with a reciept and a piece of paper with a big fat PAID IN FULL stamped on it. Apparently Depot got bored waiting for me to get a Home Depot credit card and charged the remaining amount (over $2,500) my MasterCard/bank account. Y'know, despite the floor being, uh, NOT DONE YET.

I was on the phone to my local Home Depot and demanding to speak to the manager within three minutes of opening the envelope. Something in my voice must have clued in the hapless peon at the other end that this customer was majorly Unhappy and I got the manager within a minute, which for Home Depot is an unprecedented record. Turns out the old manager whom I'd negotiated my deal for the replacement flooring no longer works there. *headdesk* On the plus side the new one couldn't agree with me fast enoug hthat she was going to take off the charage and get my installation completed. Which mollified me somewhat, but didn't change the fact I think I damaged my heart from the stroke I suffered when I'd thought we just got a $2,500 hole in our checking account right before the holidays.

I swear to Christ I'm never getting ANYTHING installed by those idiots again...

I SWEAR to God that I had *nothing* to do with this, Jeriendhal!!! I thought *zero* evil thoughts about your floor, in fact, just in case, I made myself forget you had one (g), and certainly won't regale you will the further tales of our floor.

Suffice it to say that I have all fingers crossed that the Floor Project From The Planet Groomba will be completed satisfactorily by the Human Lookalikes (check the little finger) during your lifetime. (g)

Good luck with My Floor Fluffy!

My experience is that it is best to get work done by someone whose main business is doing that work, not by someone whose main business is retail that covers a wide range of items beyond the item you need installed or otherwise worked on. That applies to everything from home repairs to auto repairs to computers. Even if the home repair store employs good contractors for work you get done through them, having the store as an intermediary in getting the work done tends to cause problems than you'd have if you hired the same contractor directly.

I hope they manage to get your floor installed soon. This has been dragging on for quite a while, hasn't it?
