jeriendhal: (Grumpy)

So Saturday le wife [livejournal.com profile] moonshadowed, our son Thomas and family friend [livejournal.com profile] badasher took a trip to Gettysburg to ride on yet another Christmas train ride. In which a fine time was had by all, especially Thomas, who was as usual entranced by the ride and had a great time giving hugs to Santa Claus (who was indeed a jolly old elf who had a good manner with the younglings). The only minor bobble was that Thomas fell hard asleep around 4 pm during the car ride home and refused to be roused. No biggie, we figured. If he got up early then we could put him down for a nap on Sunday so his schedule would normalize. Which we did, after he woke up at 1 am. He went down for a nap at 12:00 pm and I woke him at about 2:30. Then he went back to bed at his normal time of about 7:30 pm.

Monday morning he awakened at 2:30am. Argh. This, combined with the patch on my tire failing to hold, meant I called out sick as Tom fell asleep again at 8:30 am. I had AAA change my tire to the donut again and ran Tom to school when he woke up at around 11am, then had my tire fixed and called the day a loss. He went to bed at 7:30 again and we figured that was the end of it.

He woke up at 2:30 am again this morning. I was low on sick time and had to go into work, but T was trying her damndest to make him take a nap before she had to take him to the bus stop at 9am when I left. I hope she succeeds, or he's going to have a sucktacular day. And whatever happens, I think we may end up dosing him with Benedryl if only for Daddy's sanity.
