Damn. I always liked Davis' portrayal of General Hammond. I know a lot of it was the writer's creation too, but Davis always projected Hammond as a warm man who cared about the people under his command and indulgent (within limits) of his snarky Col. O'Neill, so long as his subordinate delivered results.
