So my workplace, after some two and a half years, decided in its great wisdom that everyone there needed to be drug tested. Bear in mind that I work in an office environment, and while we do have important responsibilities (approving doctors' drug requests for patients), it isn't like we're driving forklifts or anything. I'm more likely to keel over from aspirin abuse.

This kind of knee-jerk invasion of your rights and privacy just plain pisses me off.
Will the upper level management be tested, and their results made public?

No offense Royce, but when we were doing the fertility gerbil wheel, I once called my insurance because they kicked back my clomid, saying it wasn't covered. What I got was someone on the line who explained very condescendingly that I could only take that drug IF I was pregnant.

I asked Zippy if he was a pharmacist..no. Did he take a pharmacology class?...no. Does he have a drug handbook nearby?..no. Was there a pharmacist anywhere in the building?...no. I then explained to him what clomid was and why it is prescribed and that he could blow it out his butt. They finally did approve the prescription.

Drug testing is needed Royce, but they got the wrong people. I would start with Inhuman Resources and the Suits who decide where to spend the money.

they only do it for the lower insurance and the govt stamp of approval.

it's like the new Secure Importer rules they put in place at my employer. silly. People can walk in the front door with a fake ID card at any time -- don't need to code into the rest of the building... it's a huge hole in their security and nobody gives a rat's patootie.

I've known people to walk in and flash their local student IDs at the front desk when they forgot their work IDs at home. Crazy stuff.
