Really, I should post these in bigger chunks, but then you'd get one post a month at my current rate of progress.

“Well, whatever they think they’re doing, they can keep it up. They’re distracting Security while we get out of here.” She used Barloch’s code key again to unlock deeper security records. “Ha! All of the vulpine arrested have been confined to the dorms in Quadrant 6. The freighter that brought you here is still in dock, and it’s being loaded with live animal transport containers. If we can get them out then we can put them in those and we can run.”

“That’s not what we want,” Marty said softly. He reached over to touch the computer screen, scanning rapidly through the list of ships docked at the station. “That’s the one we’re taking.”

Whitepelt looked at the screen and gasped, “That’s an armed assault transport! It’s designed for deep penetration attacks into Ardie territory. It’s going to be guarded. Are you out of your mind?”

“That possibility has been mentioned on more than one occasion,” Marty replied serenely. “We are leaving and we are going leave on that transport. It has the life support capacity to hold all the station’s vulpine and it will have the firepower required to defend ourselves should the Social Shaper attempt to retrieve us.”

“All of the… we can’t!” She pulled her ear in frustration. “Only five hundred came to your speech, out of ten thousand. They aren’t all going to want to go!”

“Then we must convince them.”

it's a million to one chance...

but as Mr Pratchett tells us, million to one chances crop up nine times out of ten....

On a side note, how have you found Lulu? Does it generate any income for you?

If by "income" you mean "Barely covers the cost of buying copies for myself and collaborators" then yes. I think I've sold 10 copies of my stuff, at a five dollar profit for each of them. Of course I fail at self-promotion, which is part of the problem. I don't publish on Lulu so much to make a profit than as a means of self-actualization

A better person to ask would be [livejournal.com profile] chaypeta since she had enough success publishing her Terinu Calendar to do it two more times.

Well, you certainly aren't going to retire on the profits. The profits from my sales all go into my "play money to buy stuff from oversea's want using paypal" account... which currently has just under $300 in it despite not publishing anything through Lulu for the last two years or so. It really depends on how much advertising you do as to how many copies you sell. You can't expect buyers to just stumble across your book on Lulu. I've got a little advantage with the calenders that I already have built up a fan base so there was an instant market for them.

On the plus side it costs you nothing to upload and publish on Lulu and you don't have boxes of unsold copies cluttering up your garage. So it's great for doing it for the fun of it, or even just being able to purchase a nicely bound book of your all your hard work.

never let sanity get in the way of a good plan. (Of course it helps when you have a goddess on your side.)

Oh yeah. There's going to be a hefty bit of divine intervention in the finale. :)

BTW I still need to get your copy to you. I've held off since the first three I bought were filled with grammar and formatting errors. I'll buy a new one and get it out to you soon, I promise.
