Finished watching the compleate boxed set last night. Just one comment:

FOX EXECS ARE A BUNCH OF @#$%ing MORONS!

Okay, I've got more than one comment. :)

I can see where the pilot made FOX nervous. To be honest, it's a sh*tload of exposition, without a whole lot of plot beyond What's in the Box and What Do We Do With the Alliance Cop? It was kinda slow, and if the look of the world didn't hook the audience immediately, then it would have left the average viewer (as opposed to SF geeks like me) scratching their heads and wondering when the next Buffy ep would come on. The Exciting Bits with the Reaver ship at the end felt blatently tacked on.

The Train Job suffered from being an abbreviated re-hash of all the info the pilot gave us, with a helping of How Did the Doc, Nutty Girl, and the Hooker get onboard anyway?

The remaining thirteen episodes, with perhaps one or two exceptions, were pure gold. If FOX had the fricking brains to actaully show them in order, then they might have hooked an audience that would have given them the advertising numbers they wanted to support the show. Unfortunately that didn't happen, and the $1.8 million per episode price tag probably scared of the Sci-Fi Channel from picking it up.

Hopefully the theatrical movie will get this show the hype it deserves to be resurrected as a continuing series.

Cross your fingers.
