A couple of months back Nintendo issued a software update for the Wii, upgrading their Nintendo Channel, home of trailers and brief five minute infomercials for Wii and DS products. To celebrate this, they also inauguratedNintendo Week, a ten to fifteen minute exploration into the world of gaming.

And oh dear God it is soooo bad. Starring closer-to-thirty-than-twenty something, painfully whitebread Allison and Gary (and occasionally "Dark Gary", Gary's not so much Evil as Annoying Jerkass Twin) it's an extended commercial for all Nintendo products, done in a manner trying to appeal to fans of G4's X-Play. Assuming X-Play was hosted by two people with absolutely no on-screen charisma with each other, no snarky jokes and no idea how lame the products they're hawking are, with a budget that appears on par with a live action Saturday morning show from the 70's.

And I can't stop watching it. Somehow its utter lame-osity turns it into a thing of utter beauty. Such as the sheer orgasmic joy of Gary and Allison showed for a solid four episodes over the now just released Super Mario Brothers for the Wii (an upgraded version of a twenty year old console game) or a girl's fashion game for the DS. It's an utter trainwreck of a show, but with a captive audience (it's not like you can watch YouTube on the Wii's internet browser) so it'll probably run for years.
