Just some images from the weekend

The view from the backyard early Friday afternoon, just as the snow was really starting. What's already on the ground was from the snowfall we received the week before

Photobucket

The front yard around 4am, when the blizzard was at its peak.

Photobucket

Some people tried to shovel out while the snow still fell to keep from having to deal with the whole thing at once.

Photobucket

The backyard, around noon Saturday. Note that I had actually dug a path to the garbage can earlier, not that it did much good.

Photobucket

My minivan the next morning.

Looking out across the parking lot.

Looks like y'all got us beat by a bit. I posted my share of photos over on FB and was considering doing the same on LJ. Not sure if it's necessary now.

Wow, and I thought we had a bad spell of snow a couple of weeks ago... Though was was worst here was the slipperiness. I could hardly get anywhere, walking or by bike, without danger of slipping. It was a pain. Good luck with everything the coming time! At least snow gives pretty photo's ^^:

*jaw drops* O_O

I don't think I've ever seen so much snow in my life. At least not like that, covering everything including the cars. It's always been sort of cleared away.

Wow.

That's amazing! Holy crap! Looks like marshmallowland.
Do you still get paid at times like this? Does it come out of sick days etc or do you have to cop the lost time?

you guys probably got another 5-6 inches more than we topped off at with 29.

I put my pix in FB, but this says it all.

Friends in Columbia/Ellicott City were getting an AVERAGE of 30"-- but the drifts were *massive*.

If you got slammed as bad as we did, you have my utmost sympathy!

This is not typical for us. Usually we get less than a 15cm over an entire season. This year we hit the third largest snowfall on record since they started recorded them in the 1880's. Probably hit Number One if Tuesday's snow is as bad as they're predicting.

Ahaha. AHAHAHAHAHA! Ahem.

My current job doesn't pay jack for snow days. It comes out of my sick time (if I have any) or otherwise I don't get anything. And the office stays open NO MATTER WHAT.

God I miss my old job though. Stuff like this happens and they'll close up early and give everyone a full day's pay and the next besides if operations shut down. Heck they closed early just because the next day might be a holiday and who would feel like working past 3pm anyway... :)

Bugger. I assumed that would be the case but I've never lived anywhere it snows before. It's the same here with floods and bushfires.

Might have to buy a snowmobile at this rate!!

Holy cow. No wonder they ranted about this on the national news all weekend. And here I thought it was just "east coast bias" again.
