The structure LMB chose, concentrating solely on Mile's POV when she'd traded it back and forth between Miles and Ekaterin in the previous two books, did severe damage to the pacing of the plot when Miles was taken out of the action. All that stuff happened and it was all offscreen.
Perhaps I should read it again. It's the only Miles book I haven't reread since it was published.
