So Monday my boss finally noticed I'd snuck in a heater while she was on vacation and told me I had to take it home.

It's maybe in the mid-60's in my office right now, and my only source of heat is now the heating pad on my lap.

I hope to hell I get an electric blanket for Christmas. Or maybe one of those jaguar print snugglies. Otherwise it's going to be another long winter.

I see cold offices not as a problem, but an opportunity. To show off my collection of 100% wool sweaters paired with tasteful gloves and hats. And if they don't like that I'm wearing a furry hat in doors they can lump it.

What? Why couldn't you keep the heater? Smells like useless bureaucracy to me!

Well if I had a heater everyone would want a heater, and then it would overload the power in the office.

Why don't they just turn on the central heating? If people are cold in an office where you do nothing but sit behind a besk... there's not much to get warm from then, right?

We have a very peculiar micro-climate in our area of the office. We're in an older building (built in the 1920 or 30's) and the section of the office I'm in has ceilings about a meter higher than the section where the thermostat is located, and worse we have windows that aren't particualrly well-insulated. So one area is reasonably comfortable, and my section... isn't, mostly because of those windows and the heat rising to the high cieling.

I'd be taking a blanket to work with me. And wearing my coat indoors.

Love the title of this post. I hope you've never been buried underground in the Arctic...
