Step One: Go to work.

Step Two: Turn on Kindle at break, see the screen is 3/4 gone with remaining 1/4 obscured by black lines.

Step Three: Muffle screams of agony as I realize I have nothing to read at lunch.

Step Four: Try manual reboot per help site. No dice.

Step Five: Call customer service. After ten minutes on the phone I have a new Kindle ordered and shipped to my house for free and just have to send back the old one with the shiping label they'll email to me. I don't even need to return the power cord.

Now that is good customer service!

Hmmm. Yours is the third Kindle I've heard of going wonky like that. It's making me a little nervous. :( I assume that when they send you the new one, it's preloaded with all the stuff you'd already d/l'ed? Including place markers?

Sure, but they COULD have offered to read you a book over the phone to finish out your lunch break! Ingrates.

Hehehehe

seems like :)

will it have all your books installed already or will you have to do that? If they have - that is almost perfect then... :)
