Agatha grabbed Gil by the hand and yanked him down the hallway in a dead run just as the pneumatic axes began fall from their hidden alcoves.
“I thought the castle was listening to you now!” he shouted as they dodged around a corner and began hop-scotching over the electrified inlays.
“Most of it is,” she yelled back. “This section must have more seriously damaged!” Then it was time for them to scream simultaneously as a pair of mechanical arms reached down to grab them by their belts and haul them through a trapdoor in the ceiling. They were deposited in front of a tall, thin man wearing a tweed suit and a manic expression.
“Hello, I’m the Doctor,” he said, holding out his hand. “Did you say something about a mad artificial intelligence? I think I might be able to help you with that.”
