Vacation - Day Two
Aug. 23rd, 2011 06:10 amMost of Monday morning was taken up by escorting
moonshadowed to the clinic to have her stomach looked at. After a diagnosis of Gastritis and swallowing what the doctor called a "GI Cocktail" she was feeling Much Better Thank You, though she was still pretty wrung out after a bad night's sleep. Since that had killed the morning and after lunch she was feeling tired, we skipped our plans to walk around Colonial Williamsburg.
Instead I drove with Georgia over to Norfolk to check out Nauticus and the Battleship Wisconsin. Both were much improved since the last time I'd visited with my dad about eight years ago. Nauticus had dumped some of the cheesier exhibits for better aquariums and more displays concerning the big hunk of iron parked at the dock next door.
The Wisconsin was also more accessible. Last time I was there it was sealed up completely, as it was still kept in reserve just in case the US really needed a battleship again. I don't know if they gave up on that idea, but at least now they have the officer's wardroom and a few of the officers' quarters opened up for visitors to walk around in.
Today we hit either Colonial Williamsburg finally, or Busch Gardens. Probably the latter if only because it's likely to be the most upsetting sensory wise for Thomas and it might be best to get it out of the way first.
