Interesting blog entry from Eric Burns concerning the whole "LJ user visited by the Secret Service" commotion: http://www.websnark.com/ His commentary appears to make sense and free of partisanship. The fact of the matter is that LiveJournal is a public forum, and if you've got a journal entry containing rants against the President's life, however stupid, then the Secret Service is obligated to investigate when it's brought to their attention even if it turns out to be absolutely nothing. It's their job, and the consequences that would occur if they decided to let something slide are something I'd rather not see again in my lifetime.

On a less serious note, I gave a presentation to several of employees of my company yesterday concerning some of the more obscure parts of my job. Afterward I received several compliments from the audience on my little speech, which I suppose is impressive considering I didn't really practice for it. I think they liked it because it was mercifully short and to the point compared to all the others they heard.
