Haibane Renmei is awesome, and so are both of Wil Wheaton's books. :P

Yeah, I've heard good things about that anime from my friend, Jim, and I'm a fan of Wil Wheaton's blog. Pity he doesn't come on Screen Savers anymore.

Checks AICN...

Metropolis (natch)
Die Nibelungen
Spies
Woman in the Moon

Of the four I'm looking forward to Metropolis and Woman in the Moon the most. The others I've never heard of, to be honest. Though at some point I suppose I really should pick up a copy of "M" with Peter Lorre.

Sounds good. My copy of Metropolis is badly cut, about 84 minutes IIRC. (I don't think there are any full-length versions left.) If Die Nibelungen is the one I'm thinking of, it's a real classic; I think I have it. The other two I'm not familiar with.

Pirates! sounds interesting, too. I've enjoyed all of Sid Meier's games that I've tried (although the latest version of Civilization seems a little too complicated). (I've played Civilization vv. 1, 2, and 3, Colonization, and Alpha Centauri.)

Hmm. Do you have the one with the rock opera score that came out in the 80's? :) I'm betting the version of Metropolis in the boxed set is the "Restored Authorized Edition" that clocks in at 124 minutes. Or at least I'm hoping it is.

"Pirates" is one of those games I meant to pick up when I was just getting into computer games, but never did. Pirates 2 looks like it's going to preserve the basics of game play from the original, but be much more flexible and prettier. I'm just hoping ship-to-ship combat is fun. I've been looking for a playable Age-of-Sail combat sim for a while now and I've been coming up short (I wish someone would make a new version of The Ancient Art of War at Sea).

I think that's the one, yes.

I can't help but notice how many of those items match up to "Stuff I've lent you or told you about": Firefly, Triplets, Kingdom Hearts, anime stuff.... I feel as though I'm doing my job properly. :)

When you obtain Firefly DVD box, you will be the third person I've lent the series to who's gone on to get a copy himself. Joss should give me a cameo. :)

Winged Migration is awesome. The Toronto CBC Radio 1 morning show host and one of his regulars were going on about it one week, so my husband rented a copy from the local video store. We owned a copy no more than a couple of weeks later and have shown it off to a number of visitors. Hard to believe some of the footage in it.

Good luck with your list!
