"You don't understand," she said. "I can't wear them all the time."
Her morph looked hurt. "But they're good shoes!"
"Are you kidding? My feet will rot off!"
"No, no. The nanos eat any sweat and dead skin you produce, and massage your muscles to keep your circulation going."
"I want. To take. Them off."
"But you've got no reason to…"
She rubbed her forehead. "What's Rule One?"
"'Anything is permitted, so long as it is not a danger to others or yourself.'"
"So you have to allow me to take my shoes off."
"But you might step on something!"
