"I'm a terrible person," Melanie sighed.

"You're a meddlesome person, granted," Rolas corrected.

"I interfered with your life, with your sister's life, with Ali's life..."

"Yes, and yes. As for Ali, I'm not sure what else you could done, but she's happy now."

"You should divorce me."

"Never."

"You should punish me."

"I don't hurt vixens, love. Especially you."

Her mouth turned up slyly. "I didn't mean 'hurt', I meant punish."

He paused, letting an answering smile rise as he caught on. Then he grabbed her wrists, twisting them behind her back. "As you will," Rolas breathed in her ear.

There's going to be a scene in Legacy of the Red Vixen when their daughter Ryza is going through Mom's dresser onboard the mothballed Scarlet Claw. Suffice it to day she's never going to look at her mom and dad's relationship in quite the same way again. :)

By the time Legacy rolls around, Rolas has a good layer of middle age pudge going. Seeing his younger self bare chested and in a kilt is going to be a touch disconcerting.

"Don't worry, mom. It's not as if I'm going to go off under an assumed name and plunder the spaceways..."

One of the reasons Rolas loves Melanie so fiercely (despite her tendency to meddle) is that she helps him channel his aggressive side, which he usually represses out of guilt for his sister's situation.
