I haven't seen any of the remakes that have been released...

I'd recommend at least checking out Dredd, if you can stomach very bloody action movies. Much truer to the comic and a vast improvement to Stallone's version.

And Karl Urban gets the smile right.

Well, he at least gets the stubble right...

I suppose that joke would have worked better if you'd ever seen the picture by Brian Bolland. Word balloon: "I AM smiling."

Fooey then.

I just saw Dredd recently on Netflix. Nothing special, but still way better than Stallone's. I haven't seen any of the other remakes in your poll (yet).

There were no fewer than THREE WotW movies in 2005.

As for the others, Robocop remake isn't viewable yet so I can't judge, and I haven't seen the others.

What about Invasion of the Body Snatchers? How many versions of that have there been?

Okay--could someone who's seen both Wrath of Khan and Into Darkness explain to me why they like the latter better? Because I honestly don't get it.

Well, though I liked WK better, it did do me widdle heart good to see "Kirk-getting-lucky-after-barely-holding-his-own" (from TOS) replaced by "Spock-losing-his-shit-and-methodically-beating-Khan-to-guacamole".

Also, a British accent on a mass murderer from the Middle East is a lot more plausible than a Mexican one.

Okay, that's a matter of taste. The ST:ID fistfight drove me up the wall. The whole point of Spock to me is that he's smart enough to find better ways of dealing with problems than his fists. Such as, say, having the phaser banks stun a couple of city blocks like in "A Piece of the Action."

Honestly? I agree with all the criticisms of Into Darkness, but I just have a thing for fancy special effects.

Okay, I can grasp that.

You left out "The Day the Earth Stood Still" -- although I can't really see anyone picking Keanu Reeves over Michael Rennie.

I'd managed to erase that one from my memory, thankfully...

Until now.
