She hadn't been into princesses when she was a kid. The generic sparkly, tiara wearing, vacantly smiling ideal of Disney was her idea of Hell. Her heroines had carried swords, and if they'd married the prince it was only after they had both had walked up the aisle over the bodies of their enemies.
“You look beautiful,” her mother said.
“Thanks, Mom.”
“Take a look at yourself.”
She turned to the mirror. The dress was pure white, the veil clipped to her perfectly coiffed hair, and the corset snug.
“You look like a princess!”
“Yeah.”
