Hi again. I'm writing this by flashlight, which makes it feel really mysterious. We got hit by a bad snowstorm yesterday afternoon, the second one this season. There's a meter on the ground already and more coming down. The power grid cut out two hours ago and the solar panels are covered in snow of course, so Mom and Mom called to say we had to shut everything down to conserve power for the heat. Grandma Jill says that why her family used to have gas heating, but gas got way too expensive after people's babies were born with defects after all the chemicals got into the ground water.

I'm watching Grandma while they do their thing at the Relief Center, same as usual. The weather service just said the snow should stop in an hour or so. I'm going to try to get the ladder and clear off the panels so we can have power again.

I'd actually considered sticking in deliberate spelling errors to reflect this is actually handwritten, but then I figured that would be incredibly annoying over the long term if you read all of these entries all at once.

Hmmm, seeing "meter" (usually some mechanical gauge or a description of the rhythm in poetry/prose) used here as opposed to "metre" (a metric measure of distance) confused me and threw me out of the story. Was it intentional or a typo?

"Meter" is the American spelling of the Metric measurement, so it's intentional.

Yes, we're barbarians. ;p
