When Salli returned to her suite in her parent's home, and wondering exactly when it had become my parent's home, not my home, she found Ali waiting for her. More specifically, the younger vixen was kneeling the center of the living room, paws face up on her knees, very much naked, her eyes down, clothes piled on a nearby chair.
“Ali, what are you doing?” Salli demanded, quickly shutting and locking the door. Ali glanced up at her briefly, then resumed staring at the carpeted floor.
“I’m sorry, milady… I’m sorry you got into that argument with your mother the countess and your father,” Ali said meekly, shoulders shaking. By the Holy Mother, the poor girl was backsliding terribly under this stress. “I shouldn’t be a cause of strife between you and them.”
Salli sighed, rubbing her muzzle, wishing her empty eye socket wasn’t throbbing already in stress. “Alinadar, get back on your feet. I’m not the Red Vixen. I am not someone you have to submit to.”
“Yes you are. I’m in your service until the end of my days. That’s the sentence the court laid down on me. I’m a Commoner, a murderer of cubs, and not worthy of your…”
“Ali, be quiet. You are worthy of my love. You have proven, over and over again, the depth of your devotion to me.” Salli knelt down in front of her, cupping the younger girl’s chin and raising her head until she could look into Ali’s bright golden eyes. “What must I do to prove my own devotion to you?”
“Milady, you don’t have to! I know you love me!” Ali exclaimed.
Salli smiled. “Exactly.”
“Oh.”
