...but this is important.

As a writer I'm doubtful about the automation of creativity, but the rest of it makes a frightening amount of sense. And given the content of some sci-fi, mystery and romance novels, automated creativity may not be that far out after all.

I suspect the idea of minimum guaranteed income payments is going to become a very loud point of debate in the next decade or two.

As i've posted in multiple locations, there are two roads to the future: one in which machines make an ever-increasing proportion of the population "useless" and effectively disposable, the other in which we allow the machines to support all of us while we only do what we feel like doing. In _Grand Central Arena_ we took the second route, but current social direction implies we'll end up with the first.
