Just got an e-mail from a dead-tree fanzine publisher that I had submitted one of my longer Valdemar pieces to a very long time ago (like before GURPS Vorkosigan went into playtest) to be published. Much like GURPS Vor there were artist troubles. Unlike GURPS Vor I'd pretty much given up on ever seeing the thing printed.

But now a new artist has been procured, and with my permission things are moving forward again. Hopefully this thing will be printed yet!

While a sound "good luck" is in order, you're aware that Mercedes Lackey is firmly in the "No Fanfic Ever" camp, right?

More in the "Sign your rights away OR ELSE camp". I've still got the disclaimer form knocking around somewhere in my miscellaneous papers, back from the days I was actaully in the Queens Own.

Yes, I was an ML fan long ago. I was young, the horses and Vanyel were shiny and pretty, and I thought angst substituted for characterization...

"Valdemarred" was written on the tail end of that particular fandom fascination. The results were... interesting. }:)

So they're racing each other into print? Wonder which one will win.

LOL! I'm not taking bets, though GURPS Vorkosigan has a slight edge at this point, just because it's artsit is actually producing stuff for it.
