Weekend Update
May. 16th, 2005 10:16 amY'know the weekend is going to be fun when the A/C dies and it's 85 and muggy Saturday. Sunday was slightly less awful since it rained off and on. Thomas was terribly fussy though, but we found out why last night, when he started coughing and developed a fever. Tracy is taking him to the doctor's this morning to make sure it isn't incipent pneumonia, which he's gotten before.
On the plus side, Tracy and I got to enjoy The Cat Returns, a Studio Ghibli film (same folks who did Castle in the Sky, and Princess Monomoke, though not actually directed my Miyazaki. It was cute. There was nothing particularly heavy about the plot (young girl saves a noble cat, the Cat King is determined to reward by making her marry his son, she partly rescues herself by gaining a backbone) but it was quite enjoyable to watch. Anything that features a modernized Puss in Boots wearing a grey Victorian suit complete with top hat is just fine by me. And like any Ghibli film, the fun is in the details, like the black and white cat Secret Service agents keeping crowds of ordinary cats a safe distance from the Cat King's royal procession, or just the interior of The Cat Bureau.
Edit Well, at least Tom doesn't have pneumonia (our first worry). It looks like it might be the onset of bronchitis, so the doctor gave him an Albuterol perscription. More worrisome, he said it also might be asthma, which doesn't make a great deal of sense to me, since there isn't much of a history of it in Tracy's family, and I and my sisters never suffered from it (though my Mom does a little).
