Re-reads: "The Rolling Stones"
Jun. 10th, 2005 12:10 pmHaving managed to get stuck on Farmer in the Sky and bored with Between Planets, I decided to go back to my first, The Rolling Stones. It's the first Heinlein novel I ever read. Heck, as far as I can remember the first book I ever read.
Gods, the Stone family. Probably RAH's first and greatest literary example of a bunch of brilliant excentrics thrown together for a wild ride. (I could cry for how he twisted Hazel's character in The Car Who Walks Through Walls.) I loved 'em when I was a kid, and I still love 'em today. My greatest regret is missing the chance to practically steal a mint condition first edition hardback of this book.
Some books you just don't outgrow.
