Okay, can anyone point me towards a website that contains astronomical data about the solar system as it was understood back in the pre-Sputnik era? I actaully own a copy of Willy Ley's Satellites, Rockets, and Outer Space, but I'll be damned if I can find it right now. Particularly I'm looking for the predicted surface temperture of Mercury, which was believed to be tidal locked facing the Sun.

I dug out my Design Guide to Orbital Flight (1962). It has orbit and physical characteristics (shape/mass) for all the planets but no atmosphere or temperature data. If that's still of interest I can scan it in.

If it isn't going to too much trouble, I'd really appreciate it. I've got the horrible feeling the book went out with a bunch of other to Goodwill last month. I hadn't cracked open for twenty years, only to find out I needed it now. *facepalm*

Obviously this just reinforces the adage that throwing out any book is a Bad Idea (Piers Anthony and John Norman excepted).

Okay, I have 8 jpgs, total 10.6 mb, ranging from 1-2 mb each. Easiest for me is to send them from my gmail account, does that work for you? Should I split it into multiple emails?

If you can zip the file, I can probably handle it, otherwise split it up. Please send it to sir-talen@comcast.net
