We Have a Safe House
Jul. 15th, 2005 12:37 pmTracy just called from home. The guy from the fire dept. blew through and looked the house over, and declared that we weren't a fire hazard. He did recommend that we put an additional smoke detector in the kitchen (we have three at various points in the stairwells), and buy a larger fire extinguisher (we have smaller models on each level of the house.) Other than that things went just fine. Rather fortunately prior to the fire dept. guy's arrival, the repairman for the stove came in and fixed what turned out to be frayed wiring(!) in the back of the stove (it had been tripping the breaker every time we used more than one burner).
Tracy and I have been stressing about this all week. Frankly, all three of us, Tracy, me and Steve, are a bunch of natural born slobs, and it was a real effort to make the house fit for company, much less inspection by a stranger to see if we were worthy to allow another child in our house.
Now, I wonder if it would be cruel and unusual to staple all three of our cats' genitalia shut until after our sanitation inspection...
