jeriendhal#3 - Shoot up the diabetic cat with insulin that was left out overnight on top of the microwave.
Please note that the incident in question was not my fault. It's Steve's cat, and he's the one that left the insulin out in the first place. Furthermore the nitwits at the pharmacy assured us that technically speaking the insulin could be left out at room temperture for two weeks.
Ha!
End result: Maxx was looking like death warmed over this morning, laying in his default defensive spot under the dining room table, only venturing out to arthritically make his way to his water bowl in the kitchen and periodically pee at the bottom of the stairs. Steve took him into the vet's, half-convinced that he was going to have to finally put Maxx down. Half a bag of saline solution and some fresh insulin later, Maxx apparently had perked up quite a bit and will probably come home tonight.
I know Maxx is on his last legs, but if we can get these damned dosages right maybe he'll be able to live out the next year or two in relative comfort. I'm inordinately fond of the (no longer) big orange guy, especially when compared to the two other furry idiots we have.
