There should have been pain. She'd had pain her whole life. Lack of pain was… wrong.
She opened her eyes. She was sitting in a white room, not lying in a bed with a respirator down her throat, keeping her lungs inflated as her body withered and calcium scars grew in her tissue.
"Welcome," a voice said in her head.
Hearing voices too. That wasn't good.
"Please don't be alarmed, you are being addressed by the Groupmind."
"In my head?" she said aloud.
"Through a digital com in your teleop's head."
"What?" Then she saw the neko in the mirror....
