I never really understood the requisite japanophilia to be an anime fan. Sure you pick up bits and pieces of the culture from watching/reading their stuff, but the french make great comics too and I never felt the urge to learn the words of the marselleise or eat croissants for breakfast.

I do. Well I do for most every culture. I like learning things like what they eat for New Year's in Poland or breakfast in Spain. I am culturally adventurous.
