I'm just forced to wonder why they even bothered to put Kairi in the game. Let's face it, KH2: The Search for Riku was all about the boys. Kairi? Stuck back at the Island (and damnit, what was all of that nonsense in the first game about building a boat to see the world when their @#$%ing home was just swim away and they could have bought a train ticket?!)

Anyway, Sora is searching for Riku, Axel is searching for Roxas, Namine and Kairi are supposedly important but we don't give a damn about them. Because it's all about finding Riku (and by finding Riku we find out about Roxas' true fate, not that it would have given Axel any comfort). Heck, Kairi is compeltely absent from the end movie (disregarding the post credits teaser), it's just Riku and Sora... on the beach... all alone...

Ahem. Draw your own conclusions.

To the trio's credit, Twilight Town isn't their town. I don't think the Destiny Islands has trains, unless there's something I missed in Kairi's sequence...

(This isn't to say I object to the assertion of slashariffic material in there, because it really can't be done. So true. So, so true.)

Well, I think I spotted trolley tracks in the Destiny Islands cut scene, but that doesn't imply any connection to Twilight Town either. I was just making an assumption that Kairi, Riku, and Sora come from the "Real World", as Kairi was dressed more or less normally in her scenes on the mainland. Which is probably a false assumption, given the far more realistic (and awful looking) take on the characters in the Port Royal sequence.

Ah. Thinking back to KH1, I'd disagree, yeah. I think they just took the concept of having a school and thus school uniforms and appropriated it, rather than setting it in the 'real world.'

I'd've been so much happier with Port Royal on a visual level if, say, Sora and company had been changed to something that matched that. (Come on. A Goofy and Donald that looked like a real dog and duck. Or, you know, human. ...That'd be wierd, though.) Or if they'd've cartoon-ified the rest of the Port Royal bunch, which frankly would've looked less creepy to begin with.
