Resolutions

Starting Monday, my paid vacation is over, and it's time to get down to the business of job hunting.

Resolved: I will attempt to complete the following tasks daily, Monday through Friday.

1. Send out/drop off one resume a day, at least. Sending out multiple resumes on a single day does not excuse me from sending out a minimum of one the next.

2. Clean, or at least make signifigant progress cleaning, one room of the house.

3. Write 500 words on my fanfics, or whatever else catches my fancy. LJ entries don't count.

4. Write 500 words of commercial work. This can be a Pyramid article, a short story to be sent to Analog, or something else. But it has to be something that might potentially sell. Any profit from sales will go into the China Girl fund.

Seventeen weeks, plus five more if we bank my vacation money payback. I've got that long to either get a job or ready myself for the unemployment dole.

No excuses.

Check your local laws - you may want to register for unemployment now! In Minnesota, they use your filing date to determine eligibility, and then postpone the date of first check for the number of weeks equivalent that your severance package covered. So, if you got four weeks severance, your first check comes four weeks (actually five - the first week is a waiting week and never counts) after you filed. If you waited three weeks to file, tough luck - you still have to wait the four weeks before your first check.
