Alternate Pixars
Jul. 25th, 2006 08:57 pmIf I ever run a GURPS Infinite Worlds campaign, I'll probably use this world as a "starter" parallel for a I-SWAT team.
Disney-3, 1983
Current Affairs: No major difference between Homeline during the same period, save that Disney's late 80's revitalization occurs slightly earlier.
Divergence Point: Young wonderkin animator John Lasseter is making waves in Disney's previously moribound animation group.
Worldline Data
TL: 7 Mana Level: Low Quantum 5
This parallel is a relatively peaceful, out of Centrum's reach and of little interest except to animation buffs. The main divergence point is in the career of John Lasseter, who in Homeline's history was one of the founders of Pixar animation. Here he seems intent on repeating history, except that Toy Story (voiced by newcomer comedic actor Tom Hanks with William Shatner) has been produced as a conventional cel-animation film. It's being hailed as a revival of Disney's animation unit, which suffered through the bland 70's with such minor efforts as The Rescuers and the disasterous Black Cauldron. Currently he's in the process of casting voices for the upcoming Pirates of the Caribbean, while the final touches are being put on his latest project, an animated sci-fi epic designed to attract the Star Wars crowd called Space Cowboys.
