John M. Ford 1957-2006

He passed away sometime before 2:00 am this morning. I traded messages with him on the Pyramid boards a few years ago, and exchanged e-mails with him to get permission to photocopy and distribute some of his work that appeared in Autoduel Quarterly and Space Gamer. He was always a generous and amusing man.

Damn.

Well, reportedly he'd been ill for years, and I know he'd had a kidney transplant. He'd been living on borrowed time for quite a while. I just wish his account hadn't dried up.

I wish I had a copy of The Final Reflection (which I have read) to dig out. I have another book or two, and I have the memory of meeting the gentleman once, and seeing him do "Dr. Mike."
